Not always a blank sheet of paper
Some projects start with a clean idea. Just as often, they start with a product that already exists — one that needs a redesign, a next generation, better reliability, or a feature it wasn't built with. We work both ways.
When we take over a project already in progress, we start from what's there — your design, your requirements, and the reason you want it to change — not a rewrite for its own sake.

Common questions
Do you only develop completely new products?
No. Plenty of our work is redesigning, extending or improving a product that already exists — a next generation, a reliability fix, or a feature the original design didn't have. We start from what's already there.
What if we don't have our own hardware or firmware team?
That's the usual reason a customer comes to us. We can take a project from an early idea or requirement all the way through to a production-ready design, or work alongside whatever team you already have.
Can you take over a project that's already underway?
Yes. We start from your existing design, requirements and reasoning, rather than starting again from a blank sheet.
Do you also build the production test system?
Where one is needed, yes — Virinco builds production test systems as a related service, and it's simplest when test is planned alongside the product rather than after it.
A real-time energy monitor, from concept to market
Working with Oss Norge AS, Virinco handled the electronics, embedded systems and test development behind the Oss Device — a real-time energy monitor that connects to a household's electricity meter and reports usage back to a phone app, sampled every two seconds. The work ran from early concept through to production and initial testing ahead of launch.
