Custom-built for your product

Every product presents different test requirements. We engineer each fixture around the DUT, required test coverage, production volume and operator workflow.

01

Your product

We start with the DUT, interfaces, test points, mechanical constraints and expected production volumes.

02

Fixture engineering

Mechanical design, probing, connectors, electronics and operator handling are engineered as one solution.

03

Production-ready fixture

The completed fixture is integrated, verified and documented for reliable day-to-day production testing.

Key features

Designed around the DUT

Mechanical interfaces, probing and connections are engineered specifically for the product being tested.

Reliable contact

Robust mechanics and controlled probing provide repeatable electrical contact over repeated test cycles.

Exchangeable cassettes

Where appropriate, interchangeable cassettes allow one fixture concept to support product variants and future revisions.

Easy to maintain

Serviceable mechanics, accessible interfaces and replaceable wear parts simplify maintenance in production.

Built for production

Operator handling, cycle time, ergonomics and production volumes are considered as part of the design.

Platform independent

Fixtures can be integrated with Virinco Test Platforms or engineered for an existing customer test system.

The interface between product and test system

A production test fixture forms the physical and electrical interface between your product and the test system. Good fixture design combines mechanics, probing, connectors, electronics and operator handling into one reliable interface.

Because we also develop test systems and test software, we design the fixture as part of the complete test architecture — not as an isolated mechanical component.

Questions we get asked

What information do you need to design a fixture?

Product drawings, PCB data, test points, interfaces, test requirements and expected production volumes give us the starting point. We can also help define the test strategy where it is not yet established.

Can a fixture support several product variants?

Yes. Where the products share suitable interfaces, exchangeable cassettes or adaptable mechanics can allow one fixture concept to support several variants.

Can you build a fixture for our existing test system?

Yes. A Virinco Test Platform is not required. We can design the mechanical and electrical interface around an existing customer test system.

When should fixture development start?

Preferably before the product design is frozen. Early involvement allows test access, mechanics and production requirements to be considered while changes are still relatively inexpensive.

Can Virinco deliver the complete test system?

Yes. A fixture can be delivered as part of a complete production test solution including instrumentation, test software, system integration and documentation.

What happens when our product changes?

We design for maintainability and future revisions where practical. Depending on the change, this may mean replacing a cassette or interface rather than rebuilding the complete fixture.
